Alpha 0.74 is now available for download:
http://www.motodok.com/vag-com/download/alpha/VagCom-A74.exe
(408 kB, uncompressed EXE, drop in your VAG-COM folder and run)
This version supports Measuring Block Labels.
Refer also to my previous message on the subject:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VAG-COM/message/1470
Notes:
* In order to reduce clutter in your VAG-COM folder, label files MUST be
in a sub-folder called LABELS
* When you click on Measuring Blocks, VAG-COM will first look for a file
called TEST-xx.LBL where xx is the controller address (01 for Engine, 03
for ABS, 15 for Airbags, etc). If that file is found, it will be
loaded. If the TEXT-xx.LBL file is NOT found, VAG-COM will look for a
file called XXX-XXX-XXX.LBL where XXX-XXX-XXX is the is the first nine
digits of the Control Module's VAG part number (which you can see on the
Open Controller Screen). Three groups of three digits separated by
dashes to improve readability. If neither of these files is found, oh
well; VAG-COM will work as it did before, supplying default labels that
are a "best guess" based on the type of data in the field.
* I have created a TEMPLATE.LBL file that explains and demonstrates the
file-format. If you put it in your LABELS sub-folder and rename it to
TEST-01.LBL, it will display when you use the Measuring Blocks function
on your Engine. Please do this if you you have any question about the
file format.
* I have also created LBL files for the three control modules in my own
1997 GTI-VR6, as well as one for an AG4 Automatic Transmission
Controller I have here. These, as well as the TEMPLATE are available
for download here:
http://www.motodok.com/vag-com/download/label-files/
* I do not intend to put much time or effort into creating additional
LBL files. I am leaving that up to you the user community, so get
involved!
* If you're serious about making a LBL file for one of the systems in
your car, reply to this message and say "I'm will make a file for
[Make/Model/Year/ of Car] [System like Engine, ABS, Airbags, Central
Locks], Control Module Part Number XXX-XXX-XXX and I will have this file
done by [Date]." We don't need 20 people all doing the 2000 S4 engine
at the same time..;-) If someone is already doing the Engine in your
car, do the ABS or the Airbags or the Central Locks, or whatever..
* Naturally, if you create a LBL file and send it to me, I will post it
on my web-site. You are welcome to put your name and other info in a
comment line if you want "credit" for your work.
* If you send me a LBL file, please make sure it has a legitmate file
name, the first nine digits of the VAG part number, groups of three
digits separated by dashes. Please TEST all LBL files on your own car
and make sure they make sense and display properly.
* If you donload a label file that someone else has made and you find it
to be incomplete, or incorrect, by all means add to it or fix it and
send it back to me. But tell me what you added or fixed!
* Once there are enough different LBL files, I will maintain also post
and periodically update a ZIP file containing them all (or perhaps by
car model?) to simplify donwloading.
Have fun!
